Three members of our team went to Kent Gardens Elementary School for an outreach event. We spoke to a class of third graders about VEX Robotics and our team's experiences. We gave the kids a presentation explaining the engineering process, and how we followed it. The presentation included our initial robot designs, our CADs, and illustrated how the visions for out robot changed as the season progressed. We taught the kids about VEX Turning Point and explained the objectives of the game. After showing them the game, we exhibited our robot's abilities by demonstrating the ball intake and ball shooter. We also brought balls and a cap from Turning Point and let the kids look at these game elements. Following the brief presentation, we allowed the kids to take turns driving our robot if they asked a question regarding the robot. Many kids showed interest and asked about the slip gear on our ball shooter, connection between the robot and controller through the wireless keys, and how our autonomous works.
